A gun battle that may have been the result of a love triangle has left a Shreveport woman dead.
Shreveport police say Leslie Russell, 35, was inside a home in the 3500 block of Milam Street with a man late Sunday night when her husband, identified as LaQuinta Watson, 28, arrived at the home.
According to police, Watson knocked on the door and then kicked it in. The man whom detectives said was the woman’s boyfriend, DeAngelo James, 24, reportedly began firing an AK-47 assault rifle from inside the home. Watson returned fire with a 45-caliber handgun.
Police said Russell was caught in the crossfire and killed.
Both Watson and James also suffered gunshot wounds. Watson was treated at a hospital and released, while James was still undergoing surgery at LSU Hospital as of 9:30 a. m.
Police said, so far, only Watson has been charged with illegal use of a firearm.
However, that could change as their investigation progresses and once they determine who fired the shot that killed Russell.
